Our mission is to advocate for women’s reproductive rights through the art of contortion, reminding the world that we shouldn’t have to bend over backwards for our rights. How It All Began
The idea for I Am Woman, Watch Me Bleed was born during an unexpected moment of reflection. While on a train-cation with her coach, Stephanie Abrams, Kim found herself excited to purchase a shirt featuring a pair of squash resembling breasts with the phrase “Squash the Patriarchy.”
Stephanie, ever the blunt and honest voice, remarked, “You know, you aren’t exactly squashing the patriarchy living off of Tom’s (Kim's Partner) salary while you pursue your circus career.”
That simple, truthful observation struck a chord. It wasn’t just a comment — it was a challenge. Kim realized that if she wanted to align her work with her values, she needed to take action. And so, the idea for I Am Woman, Watch Me Bleed was born.
This is Kim’s first venture into circus activism, blending her art with advocacy. She hopes this exhibit will:
-
Bring people together in solidarity
-
Provide a safe space to process the anger and grief that comes with losing bodily autonomy
-
Support the fight for reproductive rights by raising money for Planned Parenthood South Atlantic
Kim is proud to use her art as a tool for change and invites you to join her on this journey. Together, we can twist perceptions, amplify voices, and help create a world where everyone’s rights are respected.
